Neil Warnock came away from Elland Road with all three points as his Cardiff City side beat Leeds 2-0 at Elland Road.

Garry Monk handed a first full debut to Spanish winger Alfonso Pedraza and Liam Cooper came in to replace the ill Pontus Jansson.

A dull opening first half saw little chances created and Cardiff went in the happier of the two sides.

Leeds’ first opportunity came after four minutes when Stuart Dallas was brought down on the edge of the Cardiff penalty area but the resulting free kick from Pablo Hernandez was hit straight at the Cardiff wall.

Hernandez had the best chance of the first half as he cut inside on the 20th minute, finding space on the edge of the Cardiff area but he dragged his shot wide of the McGregor’s goal.

Chris Wood had a chance from a free kick just after the half hour mark but the low drilled shot was comfortably saved by McGregor.

Cardiff then had a chance themselves as Gunnarsson found space in the Leeds penalty area but Gaetano Berardi flung himself at the Iceland international’s shot and Leeds cleared their lines.

Cooper had the first chance of the second half as he met Hernandez’s corner on the 49th minute but couldn’t keep his header down from 10 yards out.

Cardiff took the lead on the 53rd minute as Morrisson met Craig Noone’s free kick 12 yards out and cooly headed past a helpless Rob Green.

Monk brought on Hadi Sacko for Dallas with over half an hour remaining as Leeds looked for a vital equaliser.

Cardiff went close to a second on 65th minute as Kyle Bartley cleared off the goal line and then Green prevented a low driven cross from Joe Ralls.

The visitors doubled their lead minutes later as Gunnarsson found space down Leeds’ right hand side and squared the ball for Zohore who slotted the ball into an empty net.

Liam Bridcutt was sent off with five minutes remaining for his second booking of the game as he brought down Connelly as Cardiff looked to counter attack.

Kemar Roofe had a chance to grab a consolation goal for Leeds but his one on one effort was straight at McGregor.
