One In – How Many More Will Be Next?

Neil Warnock today confirmed his first signing of the rebuilding job at Leeds United with Portsmouth’s Jason Pearce joining for a reported £500,000, a story we first broke in April.

Pearce’s addition to the squad shows Warnock’s ambitions. If today’s news had been to announce the signing of a journey man on a free transfer, here only to make up the numbers, Leeds fans would once again have a feeling of disgruntlement against the club and not for the first time this season. But instead, the club has made the right decision in confirming the signing of a young, highly-rated centre back who could command a spot in one of England’s Premier League sides (Norwich to be exact, who were reportedly chasing him). As one Portsmouth fan said on twitter “Jason Pearce is a Prem class defender worth a lot more than £500k. Vultures circling”.

We ask how many players do you expect to see brought in between now and transfer deadline day? Taking into consideration that Warnock has already stated he isn’t a fan of the emergency loan window, we can safely say any he does make will be season-long and low in number.

  • Henry.

    Excellent news!!
    4 year deal too.
I sympathise with the Portsmouth fans.
    The vultures are circling.
I remember how they circled around us, and took our best players for nothing!
How the Chairman of the other clubs voted for a thumping points deduction against us. Pointing their bony fingers at us for going into liquidation.
Well the other clubs are reaping the benefits now.
Roll on the next 8 signings.

Hope it’s not another Schmeichel-type signing, which I was very excited about at the time but wasn’t followed up by further quality signings leading to a nearly-but-not-quite season.

    • Right In The Gary Kelly’s

Hopefully not, we can only assume this will be one of many high profile signings under NW.
